Diving

Get ready to make a splash at the Rainbow Games 2024! Participants have the option to enter the mixed boards, synchro and/or the new Manu competition.

Divisions:
First, participants must select an age/experience division:

Open Diving (18-24): Calling all dynamic young divers aged 18 to 24! If you've previously competed in Open, Junior Elite, Age Group, or Masters events, this is your chance to showcase your skills on the biggest stage.

Open Rookie Masters Diving (18+): Are you an aspiring diving champion aged 18 or above? This division is tailor-made for you! If you haven't previously competed in Open, Junior Elite, Age Group, or Masters events, seize this opportunity to make your mark.

Open Masters Diving (25+): Experience meets excellence in this division, open to divers aged 25 and above who have honed their craft in Open, Junior Elite, Age Group, or Masters events. Let your expertise shine as you inspire the next generation of divers.

(Open refers to all genders and identities).

Secondly, participants select which competitions that they would like to take part in:

·        Mixed Boards (Individual) - six dives

·        Synchro - four dives

·        Manu - Qualification and knockout (Note: the manu competition is one Open division, regardless of age or experience)

What is the ‘Manu’ competition?

The Manu competition is a more social division for those who enjoy manu diving. Manu is also known as the classic kiwi term ‘divebomb’, when an individual launches from a height, tucks the bum in to make the body straight and gather velocity on its way down to the water. Then, the body is tucked to fold the body in half as if stretching tight hamstrings. The bum must be the first to make contact with the water, while the shoulders and feet arrive last and fast, in order to create the biggest splash possible.
