Rugby 7's

The Rainbow Games Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland 2024, in partnership with New Zealand Rugby, is delighted to announce the inclusion of Rugby 7s in its inaugural multisport Games, ushering in a new era of safe and inclusive participation. This monumental event aims to deliver the most inclusive male-identifying (cisgender, transgender and non-binary AMAB) and female-identifying (cisgender, transgender and non-binary AFAB) team competition in the nation's history, while challenging traditional binary models of cisgendered sport.

Divisions:

·        Male-identifying (cisgender, transgender and non-binary AMAB)

·        Female-identifying (cisgender, transgender and non-binary AFAB)

Fees:

The early bird price is $120 per person (including booking fees and gst) which is available: to the first 30 paid registrants or until 31 October 2023 (whichever comes first) and this includes:

  • Registration to the rugby 7s competition (options to enter more)
  • Player accreditation
  • Goodie bag
  • A ticket to the Rainbow Games Opening Ceremony (Thursday 4 April)
  • A ticket to the Rainbow Games Closing Ceremony (Monday 8 April)
  • Transport discount options
  • Access to the arts, culture and social hub
  • Exclusive retail and hospitality discounts
  • Contribution towards our Rangatahi legacy initiative

The post early-bird offer is $150 (including booking fees and gst).

Please note:

Our Kaupapa challenges the traditional binary models of cisgendered sport, however Rugby 7s, as a contact and collision sport, remains one code where additional information and resource must be considered to allow for a safe and inclusive competition. Therefore, the Rugby 7s registration at the Rainbow Games is therefore a little bit different and requires information on playing experience to allow us to move forward with operational planning to deliver Rugby 7s most inclusive competition in Aotearoa New Zealand to date. This is solely for the purpose of safeguarding, safety and wellbeing of all participants.

Please note: Dependent on the information submitted, it is possible that Rainbow Games and New Zealand Rugby will need to collect more information from participants to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants. For this reason, the closing date of the rugby 7s competition will be Friday 8th December to allow time for effective planning.

The health and safety of participants is paramount, and as a contact and collision sport, both parties understand that additional considerations must be taken. As part of the commitment, New Zealand Rugby will be creating a bespoke risk management plan based on the playing experience of entrants.
